The Town of Aurora presents "Walking Through the Fire"

Get ready for a unique cultural event! You are invited to a special screening of the visually stunning and emotionally resonant visual album, "Walking Through the Fire," on Thursday, June 5th, 2025. The event will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Performance Hall at Aurora Town Square.
This presentation showcases an exciting collaboration between celebrated First Nations, Métis, and Inuit artists from various parts of Turtle Island, performing alongside the renowned and award-winning group, Sultans of String (winners of six Canadian Folk Music Awards and nominees for three JUNO Awards).
More than just a film, this experience is a rich tapestry of sound, blending Métis fiddle tunes, the lively spirit of an East Coast Kitchen Party, Latin rumba rhythms, rock influences, and the powerful drumming traditions of the Pacific Northwest. The project features an array of distinguished artists, including Elder Dr. Duke Redbird, the Métis Fiddler Quartet, Marc Meriläinen (Nadjiwan), and Shannon Thunderbird, among others. Embark on a cinematic journey to explore the deep beauty and diverse range of Indigenous musical traditions.
After the 82-minute screening, audience members will have the chance to engage in an enlightening Q&A session with Chris McKhool, the film's director, and Indigenous artist Shannon Thunderbird. This special occasion offers a chance to witness the inspiring outcomes of cross-cultural artistic partnerships and exceptional musical ability.
