Speaker Series: "Parkwood National Historic Site" with Samantha George

February 19, 2026 (7:00 PM - 9:00 PM) (EST)

Description

Inspired by early 20th century Beaux-Arts design, Parkwood, a 55-room mansion, was built between 1915 and 1917, and was the McLaughlin Family home for over 50 years. The art, architecture, gardens, landscaping and original furnishings are all faithfully preserved in this National Historic Site. Curator Samantha George will introduce audiences to the domestic stories of the McLaughlin Family, who called the estate home.

This program will be offered in a virtual format via Zoom.

After honing her skills at Billings Estate National Historic Site in Ottawa, and the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, Samantha George arrived at Parkwood National Historic Site in Oshawa, twenty-six years ago, a great fit with Parkwood, since she grew up in Durham Region.
