Rose of Sharon Services for Young Mothers
Non-Profit & Charities
For 37 years, Rose of Sharon Services for Young Mothers has provided free supportive programs and educational services in York Region annually to 300 prenatal and parenting youth mothers (14 - 29 years) while they build greater stability in the lives of their children (0 - 6 years). Our Mission/Mandate is to empower young mothers to embrace their strengths and support the future they envision for themselves and their children. Our Vision is to open doors and empower futures and our Values of: Courage, Belonging, Inclusivity, and Responsiveness are incorporated in the services we offer.
Our free programs empower young mothers to continue with their high school education at our on-site or virtual classroom; embrace their strengths by participating in programs that build parenting skills and increase child development knowledge; receive one-to-one counselling to support their personal capacity to overcome barriers; have access to our food security resources including groceries, nutrition consultation and cooking classes; donated clothing and diapers that lend a helping hand to marginalized single young mothers struggling to raise healthy children. Offered online and on-site in a welcoming, safe and inclusive space - youth parents set goals and work toward building the future they envision for themselves and their children.
We provide free education and supportive services to over 300 young women and their children living in York Region each year.
