About

The Lions Club is the largest volunteer service organization in the world.  We have over 46,000 clubs in over 200 countries and are 1.35 million members strong.  Lions was started in Chicago by businessman Melvin Jones in 1917 and came to Canada via Windsor in 1920.  In 1950, the Leo program was introduced to include the youth of the world.  We  celebrated one hundred years of service in 2017.

The Aurora Lions Club have been living up to our “we serve” motto in this community for 73 years.  When the club received it’s charter on May 9, 1944, the Lions became the first service club in Aurora.

Every dollar we make is returned to the public.  We strive to support those in our community that are in need as well as other programs in Canada.   Right here in Ontario, we have Lions Camp Kirk (in Kirkfield) for autistic, ADD/ADHD and learning disabled children, CNIB Camp Joe (on Lake Joseph) for the visually impaired , Lions Camp Dorset for those on kidney dialysis and Camp Huronda (Huntsville) for those with Diabetes.   We also make donations to LCIF to be used for disaster relief around the world.
