They also cleared the land for farming with no regard for the impact. By the early 20th century\, a severe lack of forest cover caused devastating consequences. Today\, the Simcoe County Forest\, spanning 33\,000 acres\, is the largest and one of the most productive forests in Ontario.Registered Professional Forester with the County of Simcoe\, Graeme Davis will share the history of the Simcoe County Forest and how through a century of continued effort\, the County has turned one of the most devastated landscapes into Ontario's largest 'community forest' today.This program will be offered in a hybrid format - in-person at Hillary House National Historic Site and online via Zoom. The in-person program takes place in the Ballroom\, located on the second floor of Hillary House which is only accessed via a staircase.
